Directly behind, an O'ahu O'o (Moho apicalis) calls from a flowering Ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha) to distant O'o flock (middle left). To the right a Sickle-billed gaper (Aidemedia zanclops), extinct in prehistoric times (below) and O'ahu akialoa (Hemignathus ellisiana) (above) cling to a moss-covered tree trunk. In the distance (top left) a Hawaiian eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla ssp) soaring overhead.
